Hearts steal win from Warwickshire Warriors

Hearts win 45-44 against Warwickshire warriors!

A game that showed Hearts keep their cool and not let the pressure of the game change their play too much. They were trailing behind Warriors for all quarters until about the last 8 minutes. We constantly reminded ourselves to play our own game and take a second before making a pass to ensure it was the right one. This coupled with a good number of turnovers in the defensive end secured us the win over Warriors in a very physical and tension filled game! Player went to Nat who keeps the team spirit high and encouraged good movement on court to present for the ball, leading by example as always.

Top of the league Blackbird Majors have the toughest game against our Hearts

Hearts lose 46-92 to Blackbird Majors.

The goal for this game was to get within half of Majors and we saw to it! Majors have the ability to run away with game sometimes but Hearts made them work for every goal, maximising on turnovers and attacking circle rotation at some of the best it’s been all season! We slowed down when we needed to and used the whole court to our advantage having to work through their very well practised zone defense. A great win in our eyes getting half! Player went to Liv for her great vision of the game and movement within the shooting D.

Panthers pounced

Hearts lose 41-44 to panthers 1.

Hearts used this match to deploy a new defensive technique with flooding the centre third with positional zoning. This was very effective and slowed down Panthers’ play despite being slightly more hard work. Never the less they persevered for the whole game and got within 5 to secure an extra point! A team talk after helped us to decide to manage zoning play depending on the opposition and switch up between man marking and zoning to keep the opposition on their toes. Thanks to Emily Grainger who stepped in the circle defence, got stuck in with zoning and had arms everywhere! A great game with great team progress! Player went to Lauren 👍

Aces dodge those OB Bullets

MATCH REPORT
Aces vs OB bullets
43 – 30

What a game aces had tonight it can only be described at WOW…..🤩

In my personal opinion I think it was one of the best games we’ve played every player gelled and all dynamics worked today we really came through as a team!

Our attacking combos consisting on Gemma and grace communicating well with one another to lead us ahead in the first Q with some great balls into the D from Izzy and Chloe. Overheads where very sparse due to tall defenders which made for great movement around the D. Into the second Q Chloe H was thrown into the mix helping defend through centre court and by waving our hands like we just don’t care!!! And dropping back to pick up players. Q 3 & 4 saw us switch our shooting combo around to Chloe and Gemma again great moment around the D to create space for one another. Shooting was on point today from all three girlies! And support around the D from Chloe H and Izzy and Grace was always ball side. Some lovely quick passes from Grace Taylor as WA straight into her shooters!

Our Defense was insane today with Leah WoodLeah Wood being awarded captains player, the girls stuck to their players like glue today reading off one another to pick up each other players blocking out with their bodies. It got a bit scrappy at times but Leah, Katie, Pippa and Grace C kept their heads and composure. All four girls were tipping and following the ball and springing out from behind their players to gain the awesome intercepts. We always love abit of hand holding from Katie and Leah as well 🤪. Pressure from Katie, Grace C and Pippa on those centre passes causing OB to pass back their ball which made for some good marking again always our hands in the air forcing those balls over and gaining possession. Defence read the game very well today. Defence played the ball down into attack beautifully today playing through our position speeding up at times but gaining composure and keeping passes nice and simple.

Our positivity princess Izzy as Centre today always cheering her team on. First time balls on the centre pass and following through for the second pass! Some amazing intercepts as she flys through the air. Great on the defence back line passes coming forward to assist and being ball side around the D for the shooters. ✨

Player of the match was awarded to Chloe Evans.

Diamonds fend off those Jaguars again

Match Report – Diamonds, 11/07

Tonight Diamonds played Jaguar 2, a tough game but with a great outcome!!

Quarter 1 was slow for diamonds and saw Jaguars take a fast lead.
Quarter 2 remained tough, but diamonds began to use some slick passing, throughout the court with some great feeds into the ‘D’ from the centre court players. Despite this effort, Diamonds remained behind with the score being 18-15 to Jaguars.
Within Quarter 3, all of the Diamonds made space for one another and drove into the correct position allowing some great play! This meant Diamonds took lead of the match with a 26-21 score.
Quarter 4 saw some insane interceptions from defence, some great play through the court, fab feeds and lovely shots.
This gave Diamonds a win of 36-31!!

Swans were too fast for Queens

On the 8th of July, Bromsgrove School hosted an enjoyable netball match between the Queens and the Swans. Despite some challenging weather, both teams played with great spirit and enthusiasm, making it a delightful game for everyone involved. 💛

The match began under a heavy downpour, which added an element of unpredictability to the game and made the ball insanely slippery. The Swans managed to take an early lead, ending the first quarter 9-0.

The Queens, however, kept their spirits high and continued to play with control, joy, and endless energy. 🏃🏽‍♀️

As the weather improved, the Queens began to find their rhythm. With Lucinda, Beth and Antonia leading the way in defence, and Amy, Frankie, and Gemma getting into the groove of shooting, the Queens started to close the gap.

Q2: Queens 8 – 14 Swans
Q3: Queens 19 – 23 Swans

Throughout the games, Sophie was our fabulous centre and Debbie worked wonders as WA 💪🏼

However, in the end, the Swans edged out the Queens with a final score of 30-27.

Despite this, the scoreline was secondary to the enjoyment of the match which was filled with laughter and great sportsmanship. 💛

Lucinda Granger (little ol’ me), GK, was awarded Player’s Player (despite falling flat on my bum!) and Beth Middleton, GD, was named Captain’s Player for her determination and positive energy – you were on fire! 🔥

Ryland weren’t too rapid for Diamonds

Match report: diamonds 4.07.24

Diamonds played Ryland rapidz last night, securing the win!

Q1 started off well winning the quarter 14-8 thanks to some great shooting by Eliza and Katie and smooth passing down the court by Chiara, Poppy B and Poppy M.

In Q2 we upped our game with a score of 27-16 with some great Interceptions from the Mary and Edie. Tiggy stepped in at Gk after an injury and helped to interfere with Rylands movement in the D. Diamonds showed some great ball movement and skill in center court that helped us pull ahead.

Q3 was not our best quarter, with Ryland upping their game and some miscommunication in our passes, however we still managed to keep our lead due to some great interceptions from Chiara helping to keep possession.

Q4 was our best by far, gaining a win of 44-30 with Katie and Eliza clicking in attack scoring 13 goals with help from some good feeds into the D and quick and direct passing to get the ball down the court. Also great defence from Mary in her first game back.

Well in lads💪

p.s well deserved player to Edie from Poppy xxxxx

Queens wanted opals

A well deserved victory over Redditch Opals

In a decisive display of skill and teamwork, our Queens secured a resounding 51-11 victory against the Redditch Opals.

From the first whistle, Amy and Gemma, our sharp-shooting duo at GS and GA respectively, set the tone for the match with their precise and consistent scoring. Amy’s positioning and accuracy were impeccable, while Gemma’s agility and shooting range kept the Opals’ defense on their toes.

As the game progressed, clever player rotations demonstrated the versatility and depth of our Queens. Amy transitioned from GS to GA and later to WD, showcasing her adaptability and contributing both offensively and defensively. Gemma moved from GA to C, where her agility and sharp passing maintained our dominance in the mid-court.

In the mid-court, Stacey at WA and Sophie initially at C orchestrated the flow of the game. Stacey’s swift movements and strategic feeds into the circle were instrumental, while Sophie’s endurance and court vision ensured smooth transitions from defense to attack allowing the ball to flow down court beautifully. Sophie’s outstanding energy and team talks kept everyone in a positive strong mindset. Their combined synergy created numerous scoring opportunities, further stretching the lead.

Antonia, playing at WD initially, exhibited relentless defense, effectively disrupting the Opals’ attempts to advance. Her interceptions and pressure were crucial in keeping the opponents’ score low. We LOVE her snatch to hold that possession!!

In the defensive circle, Beth at GD and Leanne at GK were formidable. Beth’s anticipation and marking limited the Opals’ scoring chances, and she later switched to GK, continuing her defensive dominance. Leanne’s height and defensive prowess made it difficult for their shooters to find the net. She later moved to GD, maintaining strong defensive pressure alongside Beth. Hayley, who also switched between GS and GK, showcased her versatility, contributing to both the defensive efforts and adding to the goal tally.

The team’s strategy and coordination were evident as they dominated each quarter, leading to a well-deserved 51-11 triumph. The victory was proof of the hard work and dedication of each player, from the shooters to the defenders, and everyone in between.

Aces brush off Redditch Pearls

Aces achieved yet another win Thursday night against Redditch Pearls, 55-41. With a bit of a slow start, we were practically neck and neck for the first half – with a strong shooter on the other team it was difficult to get any rebounds or turnovers. However once everyone had settled, and with a bit of tactical play in the defensive D from Leanne and Pippa, we started to claw our way back with amazing shooting from Chloe and Grace. Katie did a perfect job at working the ball up the court and getting turnovers galore for Sarah and Elena to feed in. Once we had figured out the other team’s strengths, we adjusted our play to create more opportunity for turnovers (which proved to be a game changer). By the end of the game we were storming ahead, ending in a very well-deserved win!

Clubs swipe those Hotshots Hornets

It was a rocky start to the game (in this stupid heat – shout out to Hearts who also played in this ridiculous heat) and Hotshots took the lead by 7. However, we started to win it back and were level by halfway through the second quarter.

The game was very close and continued pretty much neck and neck, but we utilised having fresh legs with 9 players, swapping about where we could and we kept our heads held high despite getting a bit hot and bothered.

Well done to Louise Coombs for being awarded player, really utilising those rebounds in defence. And shout out to Jeanette Selby who was injured 👆🏼- hope your finger is ok 😬

Really good game everyone, well done for ploughing on!

♣️ 38 – 37 Hotshots
