3 matches played yesterday, starting with Hearts against a very strong Panthers team-they brought the big guns out and Hearts were without 4 of their squad. Hearts lost 52-19 but the score didn’t reflect the game and I’m sure they will soon be back to winning! Player awarded to Michelle. Well done to Jodie and Rose who played up for them. Aces had a good win against OB’s 40-27 and they continue to improve as the season progresses. Player was awarded to Kirsty. Diamonds had a great win against an improving Droitwich side and once they had settled won 43-13. Player was awarded to Poppy B who made some great interceptions. Well done all!
Two out of three ain’t bad!
Festive wishes
We would like to wish all our members, players, families, friends and supporters a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year πππΎπ₯π We look forward to plenty of enjoyable netball in 2023 and hopefully a few wins!
Weather meant we played indoors again
Clubs and Spades were in action Sunday morning-indoors at the Greig. Clubs had a fabulous win against Firefox Kingsley 66-19. Jodie was awarded a well deserved player for some great shooting. The movement down the court was fast and accurate-Spades came across Firefox Sparks who are neck and neck with them at the top of the division. It was a feisty game, with some great netball from both teams. Spades lost the match 48-42 but had a lot of questionable decisions against them. They didn’t let their heads go down and were positive until the end. Well done to Elena for player and thanks to Ellie and Suzanne for playing. I do hope Santa brings Alice some new trainers!! Happy Christmas everyone!
Let it snow, let it snow and it did!!
When all other league games were cancelled on 11th December we played indoors at The Greig, Alcester. It did have it’s disadvantages, 1 it snowed heavily and 2, it meant Ryland and Thunderbirds could play their top/regional players!!! Nevertheless, I am so proud of our small club, Aces and Hearts played amazingly! Both matches were fast and first quarters were a shock to the players. Once they calmed down the flow up and down court was excellent with plenty of defensive interceptions, however Hearts had an almost impossible task against a very tall shooter! Final scores Aces 40 Ryland 52 POM Olivia Hunt, Hearts 28 Thunderbirds 57 POM Lauren Goymer. Well played ladies and I hope you all enjoyed the snow ββοΈβ
4 games 4 wins!
Wow wow wow!!!
4 games, 4 wins:
Spades v Ryland Rockets, I felt like it wasn’t a very passionate game! A lot of unforced errors, mainly due to loopy overheads. The defence had a particularly good game with lots of overturns which showed in the final score of 32-22 and POM going to GK Grace Webber.
Diamonds were playing at the same time. They won 44-21 against Ryland Ravens with POM going to our GK again, Poppy Monaghan.
Clubs then played Blossomfield Bees, who are snapping at their heels for the top spot in the division. It was a nail biting game which was neck and neck all through! I have to mention what a great defensive game Amy had as WD and versatile Rose came on as WA because our shooters, Jodie and Jeanette were both on fire and we couldn’t disturb that partnership in such a close game. POM went to a well deserved Jeanette Selby with a final score of 48-43.
Team Hearts played on home turf against Alvechurch Panthers. I had every confidence that they would continue their winning ways, after a day & night out for bottomless brunch yesterday π€π. Their score was 47-43 with POM going to GA Lauren Goymer. Well played everyone β οΈβ¦οΈβ£οΈβ€
Another 3 wins today
Another great morning of netball for Alcester Town! Team Aces started the goal rush and won 50-38 against Thunderbirds. The shooters were on fire, some good, controlled teamwork in the centre court and defence made loads of interceptions. Player went to Katie-very well deserved! Team Clubs continued their winning run and scored an amazing 79 goals against 23 from Ryland. Jodie was awarded player-again very well deserved. Team Hearts also had a good win against Ryland 56-28, slick, fast and accurate. Great attack and defence, making use of the whole court with a well deserved POM going to Lauren Goymer our wonderful GA
3 games, 3 wins!!!
What an amazing morning of netball for our club last Sunday. A combined total of 195 goals scored with only 45 against! Team Clubs started the roll with a fabulous win against Thunderbirds 80-21. Some lovely court play. excellent defence and the shooters were on fire! Welcome to Rose who was awarded player in her first match for us. Team Diamonds followed with a big win against Firefox 52-8. So pleasing to see them put into practice the tactics we have been working on in training. Mary was awarded player for lots of super interceptions-she really does fly through the air! Special mention for Katie who has really grown in confidence this season and reads the game so well with some great shooting. Team Spades finished off the morning with a 63-16 win against Panthers. The shooters were both on form and played so well together. Defence made numerous interceptions with special mention for Lydia. Great centre court play linking defence and attack. Gemma was awarded player. I enjoyed umpiring 3 games this morning, 2 for us and one for Redditch-how’s that for dedication!
Aces beat Blackhorse
A rescheduled match saw Aces beat Blackhorse by 1 goal 32-31! Aces came out with fire and played a great first quarter. Blackhorse were not going to make it easy and continued to fight back with it being neck and neck all through! Both teams had some great turnovers. An evenly contested match that could have gone either way.
Aces so close!
Team Aces played Sunday morning in a very close match which they only just lost in the last few minutes! 30-33. The opposition were a very physical side which did upset Aces flow. However, there was some positive play which was pleasing. This squad shows great promise and could get back to winning with commitment to training to build on their strengths and work on team tactics etc. Player was awarded to Olivia and a welcome to Lydia who played her first match for Aces.
Team Hearts maintain winning streak
Elaine, our coach, watched Team Hearts play Blazin Angels and was very impressed with their play against a very strong team. They won 63-54. They played with such confidence, keeping their cool even when the opposition went ahead in the 2nd quarter. The passing was excellent as was the movement down the court. Lauren was awarded a well deserved Player. Well done ladies still top of division 1.
