Hearts 52 – Blossomfield Bees 34

♥️ Hearts 52 v’s 34 Blossonfield Bees 🐝
A dominant performance from Hearts The shooters remained patient in tricky windy conditions to maintain fantastic shooting accuracy, and Shannon, Molly & Nat all showed their versatility playing in both attack and defence 👌 A well deserved player for Shannon 👏 but the morning was really all about Lauren and her shiny new ring 💍 congratulations Lauren and Cal – wishing you all the happiness in the world 💕

Aces 33 v Raiders Bolts 32

Well played all and well deserved player @Rose Claire Pendlebury – you provided consistent support all throughout court today!
So so glad we won!! We probably should have had a lead of 10 goals throughout but a win is a win!
A key takeaway from today’s game is all about driving and then clearing afterwards – both through court when moving the ball down and into the attacking third and in the shooting circle too
I think we all felt stuck at various points today when actually if we’d have driven, cleared and allowed the person behind to drive into that new space it probably would make the game flow more and less energy for us to exert!
But a great win against a team we lost to by two goals last time so we held our nerve till the end 💪🏼

Aces 24 v Panthers 51

Despite the score Aces played well
Don’t quite think my performance was worthy of player as my shooting % was not great today but I had fun so I’ll take it!

Grace C gets my player of the match – playing out of position as GD and getting SO MANY tips, turnovers, rebounds as well as supporting well through court.
Defence as a whole worked tirelessly – Leah doing well timed jumps to get rebounds and read the play well
Rose filling in as GD for one too putting pressure on the GA really well
Katie J had a fantastic match and really gave her WA a run for her money by challenging for every single ball
Rose as C for the majority of the match was nippy, controlled and supported excellently round the edge of the D
First game back for little Luce! Who slotted back in with the team perfectly providing great feeds and being the link between defence and attack
Chlo had some great movement round the D and in the second half it really felt like we came into our own in attack – more dynamic movement, confusing our defenders with scrambles, pops, drives out
All in all a solid performance against a regional level team – well done girls I am really happy with the way we played today!!

No match report but a fabulous win!

Queens v Redditch Pearls

Queens played Redditch Pearls and for once it wasn’t raining or freezing cold! It was a very close game with Redditch just beating Queens in the last quarter 39-31. Queens were the better team but Redditch shooters came alive in the last quarter with some excellent shooting. However all praise to Queens defence, Lucinda- well deserved player-Beth, Fran (Tigger) and Ximena with some great interceptions and marking giving the Redditch attack a hard time and forcing numerous errors. Katie at centre was superb- always in the right place with some lovely drop feeds to the shooters. Welcome to Annie who slotted in as WA effortlessly, wouldn’t have known she was new to the squad, again with some great feeds to the shooters. Zoe stepped in as GA and was amazing. Some great shooting with lovely movement especially for the centre pass -awarded coaches player. Last but not least Amy, dominating the circle with great movement and accurate shooting.

Aces v Blackbird Divas

Aces 28 – 39 Blackbird Divas

On the most miserable day of the year Aces were to play Blackbird Divas. To say motivation was low and we all wanted to go home was an understatement.
However, when Gemma finally trotted onto court and Leah took her dry robe off, we got a good warm up in and were ready for the challenge/ get it over and done with so we could head home.
Despite the dreadful weather and the tough opposition, we managed to play our game and keep the match tight. Short, simple passes and a sensible pace were key given the puddles, slippy ball and sideways rain. Although the occasional overhead into Chloe was sometimes too tempting, but unfortunately often intercepted by the very tall GK so they were stopped after Q1. Blackbirds put on continuous pressure and did gradually get a small lead, but we were all chuffed with how we played and that the score mostly stayed within 10. A clear improvement to last time and demonstrating how well we’ve gelled as a team.
A huge shout out to Annie and Tia who really helped us out in centre court and slotted into WA brilliantly.
